Porcelain Veneers

Often referred to as "Instant Orthodontics", Porcelain Veneers will give you the beautiful smile that you've always wanted, simply and affordably.

What are Dental Veneers?

As explained by Dr. Middelhof the porcelain dental veneer is glass-like ceramic porcelain which is bonded onto the surface of a tooth. It just covers the area of the tooth that is visible when the person smiles.

This glass-like ceramic porcelain veneers closely resembles natural tooth enamel. This is because, much like real tooth enamel, porcelain veneers are translucent providing patients with bright, natural looking smiles.

Because the veneer is so thin, significantly less tooth reduction is needed when Dr. Middelhof prepares the tooth for the porcelain veneer resulting in less trauma for both the tooth and for the patient.

Porcelain Veneers - Solving Your Cosmetic Dental Issues

There are many cosmetic problems that can be fixed with Veneers. Porcelain veneers allow us to change the color and shape of the front teeth. Often referred to as "Instant Orthodontics", they are the primary option selected for slight orthodontic problems.

  • Discolored Teeth - often caused by tea, or coffee, smoking, medication use, etc.
  • Worn Teeth - natural wear and tear as you age.
  • Chipped or Broken Teeth
  • Misaligned, Uneven, or Irregularly Shaped Teeth
  • Gaps Between Teeth - (to close the space between them)

Applying Veneers

Veneers are applied to the teeth in 2 visits to the dentist:

  • Visit # 1 Veneer Preparation:Dr. Middelhof prepares the teeth by removing 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel (the thickness of a fingernail) to allow room for the veneer layer. She then takes an impression (mold) of the teeth sends them to the specialized dental laboratory that will create the veneers.
  • Visit #2 Veneer Bonding: Dr. Middelhof will check the appearance and fit of the veneers and if it meets with your approval, the veneer is bonded - permanently attached to the tooth.

When you come in for a free consultation, Dr. Middelhof will explain the various options and which one would suit you best.
